As the Production Technician, you will be expected to assist in the physical fabrication of our prosthetic covers.  Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, different digital fabrication equipment and working with plastics is essential.  Part of this role includes ongoing R&D to refine production efficiencies and improve the quality of the product. You may also be required to use production insights to help develop new product lines for the ALLELES™.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Responsibilities and duties will be as determined by the Company including but not limited to the following:


  • Assist in the production of ALLELES™ prosthetic covers
  • Utilize internal standards to ensure consistency of the final product
  • Inspect finished products for manufacturing defects and product flaws; keep log of all defective products
  • Generate fabrication files; optimize efficiency with different advancements in CAD programs
  • Maintain and keep Company’s template files/library up to date with all new changes
  • Analyze job production data such as production time, material consumption, tooling, and make recommendations on optimizing fabrication inefficiencies and product quality
  • Maintain quality and safety standards

Research & Design (Ongoing):

  • Assist with new product engineering and new production efficiencies
  • Actively research new techniques/developments within the CAD industry
  • Share knowledge and insights learned from production process and research with team

Equipment, Supplies & Shop Maintenance:

  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; etc.
  • Ability to evaluate the condition and reliability of production equipment to make purchasing and repair recommendations
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, keep manufacturing areas free of debris and dirt
  • Put away tools and materials and keep workshop tidy
  • Supplies: Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing orders for stock


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Graduate of a 2-3 year college program in industrial engineering technology or in a related discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in CAD
  • Understand/ operate different digital fabrication equipment. ie. CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing,  laser sintering, 3D scanning, etc.
  • Knowledge of plastics: material properties; plastic manufacturing techniques
  • Conceptual Skills: Rapid prototyping; 3D modelling (geometric + parametric modelling)
  • Time management: as we are trying to maintain tight product turnaround times, we need work to be done efficiently and must be able to re-prioritize tasks depending on client and company needs
  • Accountability: ability to work in a small team and be responsible for your role
  • Must be thorough and detail orientated
  • Manual dexterity to use tools; physical strength to be able to lift material


  • RhinoCAM
  • Rhinoceros
  • Grasshopper
  • Adobe Suite
  • Can work between different CAD programs or pick up programs quickly

Hardware (Experience or Interest in the following):

  • CNC milling machine
  • 3D printing: FDM;  SLA a bonus
  • Laser cutting/Engraving
  • 3D Scanning
  • Comfortable working with power tools
